96 COROLLA AIR INTAKE DUCT, vaccuum cleaner, loud noise

HELLO,
AFTER COMPLAINING OF A LOUD NOISE, WHICH INCRESES AT HIGH SPEED, TOYOTA IS TELLING ME THAT MY AIR INTAKE DUCTS ARE THE CULPRITS. DOES THIS MAKE SENSE? I HAS MY TRANSMISSION AND ENGINE BOTH REPLACED THIS YEAR. THE NOISE IS SO LOUD I WEAR EARPLUGS. tHANKS

Hi Tammy,

Well it depends on the loud noise. If it sounds like a vaccuum cleaner, then yes, I would say you may have a hole in your air intake ducts. You really need to get your head under the hood and try to pinpoint where the noise is coming from. If it's more of a grinding noise, you've got some serious issues and you need to take the car immediately to a mechanic and no where else. IF the noise just sounds like your engine is unbearably loud-nothing really odd- just loud- it could be your muffler is gone.
