my van, a 95 mercury villager, makes a squealing noise whenever i make tight turns (i.e, coming out of a parking space) and the power steering seems to go, making the steering wheel hard to turn. I would just like some opinions on what could possibly be wrong before i take it in to get it fixed and possibly get cheated since i know pretty much nothing about car repair. Thanks for your help.
Hi: It does this only on right turns?
Did you check the power steering fliud to make sure it at the correct operating level? If the power steering fluid level is correct, the problem is probably the belt. If the belt has cracks in it, replace it. Otherwise, clean the glaze off it with sandpaper and make sure the belt is tight.Car Repair Talk's forum.
