I recently had the axle joints replaced on my 2008 Honda Civic EX-L sedan, and about 30 miles after leaving the repair facility, transmission fluid was pouring out of the engine and my car was smoking... I was almost positive that the tran. was toast, but I took it to a different Honda Dealer and they said that the previous technician didn't get the axle in all the way and it JUST sliced a seal.... I've driven approx. 100 miles since I got the car back, and I just noticed a high pitch whistling sound when the car is running at around 3000 RPMs. My car has never made this noise so, I'm pretty sure that they just did a cheap/quick fix to get me out of there so that Honda wouldn't have to replace the transmission due to faulty workmanship... What is it exactly that is making/causing this noise?
Is the transmission in gear or in park or neutral when it makes this noise?
Sorry, after reading other posts, I know that is an important detail...
It is an automatic transmission and only whistles when in drive, while I'm accelerating... as soon as I stop giving it gas, so does the noise. My car has NEVER made this sound when I start it/drive it, even when it's really cold..
