How to Drop the Oil Pan in an Acura Integra

The Acura Integra oil pan stores engine oil when oil isn't running through the engine itself. Should a hole or other damage to the pan occur, replacement of the pan is necessary. This method is appropriate for Acura Integra vehicles older than 2003. The process varies depending on which type of Integra engine you have.

Difficulty:
Moderately EasyInstructionsThings You'll Need:
  • Jack and jack stands
  • Drip pan
  • Socket wrench and sockets
  • Rubber mallet
  1. Step 1

Raise the Integra using a car jack and support it with jack stands.

  2. Step 2

Find the oil pan under the Integra. The oil pan is located on the underside of the vehicle, towards the front. It is a rectangular-shaped aluminum pan bolted onto the subframe of the vehicle.

  3. Step 3

Allow the engine to run until it reaches its normal temperature, then turn the engine off. This allows all engine oil to collect in the oil pan.

  4. Step 4

Drain the oil from the oil pan. Under the hood, take off the engine oil fill cap (to release any pressure). Place a drip pan under the oil pan and remove the oil plug to drain the oil.

  5. Step 5

Remove all of the connecting devices holding the oil pan in place, which varies by engine type (see Tips). In the common 1.8L Engine, remove or disconnect the following: negative battery cable, heated oxygen sensor connector, front exhaust pipe on the car, splash shield and center beam from the subframe.

  6. Step 6

Disconnect the oil pan itself by removing two bolts at opposite corners and then the remaining two bolts. Tap at the corners with a rubber mallet to get the pan to drop.
