Difficulty: Moderately EasyInstructions
- Step 1
Open the hood of your car in order to find the PCV valve on your Subaru Outback. You'll find the valve on the valve cover next to the engine. To identify the PCV valve, look for a small hose attached to it and connecting to the intake manifold.
- Step 2
Spin the PCV valve counter clockwise in order to remove it from the valve cover of your Subaru Outback. Once disengaged, you can detach the connecting hose as well.
- Step 3
Take a minute to check the status of the old PCV valve. Look for any clogs and shake it, listening for a rattling sound. If the valve fails these tests, you'll need to make the replacement.
- Step 4
Order an OES PCV valve replacement for your Subaru Outback from Car Stuff. The site has the part for 2001 to 2007 models with 2.5L engines.
- Step 5
Turn the new PCV valve clockwise until it fits firmly in place on the valve cover. You're going to put the ridged end into the opening while attaching the other end to the hose.
