How to Replace a Power Mirror in a Nissan Pathfinder

The Nissan Pathfinder's complex power mirror and door panel construction makes it a project for an experienced do-it-yourself vehicle owner. The project only requires a few basic tools for model years 1996 to 2004.

    Remove Old Mirror
  1. Step 1

    Disconnect the car's battery before starting to avoid injury.

  2. Step 2

    Take the interior door handle assembly off, using a screwdriver.

  3. Step 3

    Take the door's armrest off the Nissan Pathfinder's front door assembly.

  4. Step 4

    Pull the power window switches off and disconnect the connectors.

  5. Step 5

    Detach the bolts and clips holding the door panel. Lift the panel off the door.

  6. Step 6

    Take out the clip securing the inner cover of the mirror and the harness connector.

  7. Step 7

    Remove the bolts holding the mirror in place, then take the mirror assembly off the Pathfinder.

  8. Install New Mirror
  9. Step 1

    Push the new mirror into place making sure the electrical connector is through the hole and connected.

  10. Step 2

    Replace the mounting nuts.

  11. Step 3

    Attach all electrical connectors including the new mirror.

  12. Step 4

    Put the door trim panel back in place, add all screws and put the door handle assembly back on the Pathfinder.
