Difficulty: Moderately ChallengingInstructionsThings You'll Need:
- Fuel injector kit
- Socket wrench set
- Torque wrench
- Step 1
Determine which fuel injector your Hyundai Santa Fe will need. This depends not only on the make and model, but also the engine size. Models made from 2001 to 2006 can have a 2.7L Delta or 3.5L Sigma engines. Models made after 2006 have a 2.7L or 3.3L engine.
- Step 2
Relieve the fuel system pressure and disconnect the negative battery cable with a socket wrench. Detach the hoses for the air breather and engine coolant hose and disconnect the throttle cable. You will now be able to remove the throttle body.
- Step 3
Disconnect the positive crankcase ventilation valve and brake booster vacuum hose with a socket wrench. Remove the cover for the fuel injector and detach the high pressure fuel hose and electrical harness for the fuel injector.
- Step 4
Remove the fuel delivery pipe from the intake manifold with a socket wrench and lift it out of the engine compartment with the injectors and pressure regulator still attached. You can now remove the fuel injector from the delivery pipe. Discard the O-ring and grommet for the fuel injector.
- Step 5
Apply a coating of gasoline to the injector O-ring before installing it. Place the new fuel injector into the delivery pipe by turning it left and then right to ensure the O-ring is not jammed.
- Step 6
Install the fuel delivery pipe and use a torque wrench to tighten its mounting bolts to between 13 and 18 foot pounds. Complete the installation by reversing the remainder of the removal procedure.
- Step 7
Start the engine and check for proper operation.
