Difficulty: Moderately ChallengingInstructionsThings You'll Need:
- Fuel injector kit
- Socket wrench set
- Step 1
Determine which fuel injector your Honda Prelude will need. This depends not only on the make and model, but also the engine size. Models made from 1992 to 1996 have 2.0L, 2.2L and 2.3L engines and models made after 1996 have a 2.2L VTEC engine.
- Step 2
Disconnect the negative battery cable with a socket wrench and relieve the fuel system pressure. Remove any components needed to gain access to the fuel rail assembly.
- Step 3
Unfasten the mounting bolts for the fuel rail with a socket wrench and remove the fuel rail assembly. Carefully remove the fuel injectors from the intake manifold. Discard the old cushion rings, O-rings and seal rings.
- Step 4
Install the new fuel injectors by reversing the removal procedure. Slide the new cushion rings onto the fuel injectors and coat the new O-ring seals with clean engine oil before installing them. Align the center line on the injector with the mark on the fuel rail when inserting them into the fuel rail.
- Step 5
Turn the ignition on to pressurize the fuel system and start the engine to check for fuel leaks.
