Difficulty: Moderately ChallengingInstructionsThings You'll Need:
- Fuel injector kit
- Socket wrench set
- Torque wrench
- Step 1
Determine which fuel injector your Geo Metro will need. This depends not only on the make and model, but also the engine size. The Geo Metro has 1.0L, 1.0L turbocharged and 1.3L engines.
- Step 2
Relieve the fuel system pressure and disconnect the negative battery cable with a socket wrench. Remove the air cleaner and disconnect the intake air temperature sensor harness and vacuum valve hose for the air conditioning solenoid, if present.
- Step 3
Remove the bracket for the air cleaner bracket from the throttle body with a socket wrench. Take off the cover for the fuel injector and disconnect the injector electrical harness. Gently detach the injector from the throttle body and discard the O-rings.
- Step 4
Apply a thin coat of automatic transmission fluid to the O-rings and install the new fuel injector into the throttle body. Be careful not to twist the injector when installing it. Connect the electrical harness for the fuel injector and replace the injector cover. Install the air cleaner bracket and use a torque wrench to tighten the bracket bolts to 11 foot pounds.
- Step 5
Install the remaining components and turn the ignition switch on without starting the engine. Pressurize the fuel system and check for fuel leaks.
