How to Replace a Fuel Injector in a Chrysler Sebring

Determine which fuel injector your Chrysler Sebring will need. This depends not only on the make and model, but also the engine size. Models made from 2001 to 2006 can have a 2.4L EDZ or 2.7L EER engine. Models made after 2006 have choices that include a 2.0L GEMA, 2.0L TDI, 2.4L GEMA, 2.7L EER or 3.5L EGJ engine.

Relieve the fuel system pressure and disconnect the negative battery cable with a socket wrench. Remove the fuel injector wiring harness from the fuel rail support bracket and disconnect the electrical connectors from the fuel injectors. Detach the accelerator and speed control cables from the fuel rail.

Remove the connect fitting for the fuel hose from the chassis tube and unfasten the mounting bolts for the fuel rail with a socket wrench. Lift out the fuel rail and remove the fuel injector clip so you can remove the injector from the fuel rail. Discard any damaged O-rings and injector clips.

Install the new fuel injectors by reversing the removal procedure. Lubricate the injector O-ring seals with a drop of clean engine oil prior to installation.

Use a torque wrench to tighten the two fuel rail mounting bolts on the intake manifold to 105 inch pounds and the fuel rail mounting bolt on the cylinder head to 16 foot pounds. Torque the fasteners to the intake manifold to 21 foot pounds and the bolts on the fuel rail to 75 inch pounds.

Pressurize the fuel system with a scan tool and check for leaks.
