How to Replace Windshield-Washer Tubing in a Saturn VUE

If you've noticed the windshield in your Saturn Vue Crossover isn't getting any fluid, yet the reservoir tank is full, your tubing may be the culprit. The tubing is what moves the washer fluid from the tank up to the windshield. Replacing this tubing is a job you can do yourself. The instructions below are for later model Saturn Vue Crossovers.

Difficulty:
Moderately ChallengingInstructions
  1. Step 1

Use replacement tubing or tubing/valve assemblies specifically made for the Saturn Vue Crossover. The one-size-fits-all assembly will not fit properly.

  2. Step 2

Locate the Saturn Vue's windshield washer reservoir tank. It's directly behind the driver's side headlight and right next to the battery. Saturn Vue may have enough clearance that you can work from underneath without using a jack.

  3. Step 3

Release the tubing at the windshield side first and drain the remaining fluid into a separate container for disposal. Use caution when working so close to the battery. It's possible that leaking battery acid was the root cause of the tubing failure.

  4. Step 4

Disconnect the tubing from the bottom end of the reservoir. Flush the reservoir with water if the reservoir is dirty.

  5. Step 5

Connect the new tubing to the washer reservoir, then the windshield outlets.

  6. Step 6

Fill the reservoir with fresh washer fluid and test the wipers. You might notice that it takes a few minutes to prime the new tubing before you see washer fluid coming out onto the windshield.
