How to Replace Windshield-Washer Tubing in a Lincoln Navigat

The windshield-washer tubing can fail for several reasons. The Navigator's washer tank and battery are so close together, it's possible that leaking battery acid was the root cause of the tubing failure. Follow these instructions to replace the tubing yourself on a later model Navigator.

Difficulty:
Moderately ChallengingInstructions
  1. Step 1

Locate the Lincoln Navigator's windshield washer reservoir tank, which is on the passenger's side front, directly in front of the battery.

  2. Step 2

Unhook the tubing at the windshield side first and drain the remaining fluid into a separate container. Keep an eye out for leaking battery acid while working on the tubing.

  3. Step 3

Disconnect the tubing from the bottom end of the reservoir. You may be able to get underneath the Navigator without lifting the vehicle.

  4. Step 4

Connect the new tubing to the washer reservoir, then the windshield outlets.

  5. Step 5

Fill the reservoir with fresh washer fluid and test the wipers. Expect it to take a few minutes to prime the new tubing before you see washer fluid spray onto the windshield.
