How to change the spark plugs in your car

Many people get confused when trying to change their sparkplugs. Hopefully this article will help you change yours.

  • New sparkplugs
  • an air blower (to remove dirt)
  • A spark plug socket
  1. Step 1

    Now we need to remove our sparkplugs. First, befor you do anything your vehicle should be off, and it's usually better if you wait for the engine to cool off entirely before changing your plugs. Also you should disconnect the cars battery.

  2. Step 2

    Now, clean the area around the sparkplug, from dirt and dust, with the air blower. This will keep anything from falling down into the cylinder.
    Remove the spark plugs by grabbing the rubber covering, twisting, and pulling it off. (Don't pull on the wires)

  3. Step 3  

    Remove the spark plugs with a spark plug socket. Place the socket over the spark plug and twist it out. Now insert the new spark plug into place, careful not to drop anything into the cylinder, and tighten it with your hand. Then you tighten it a quarter turn with your spark plug socket.

  4. Step 4

    Finish it off by cleaning everything up, putting the boot on, and reconnecting the battery. Your finished and your car should start easier and run better.
