- Remove the Exhaust Manifold
- Step 1
Pull the negative battery cable from the terminal. Raise the vehicle on jack stands and make sure it is securely supported.
- Step 2
Located the gravel shield on the underside of the engine and remove it. Remove the support bracket for the downpipe.
- Step 3
Loosen the bolts from the exhaust flange and then remove them. Pull the downpipe from the manifold.
- Step 4
Remove the manifold bolts in two or three passes. Start at the center of either side and work out, using a criss-cross pattern. Lift the manifold out.
Install the Exhaust Manifold - Step 1
Clean any gasket material and debris from the mating surface. Use compressed air and solvent. Inspect the surface for any damage.
- Step 2
Install a new gasket. Set the exhaust manifold in place.
- Step 3
Tighten the bolts using the correct torque (see Tips). Tighten the bolts in sequence, starting at the center and working out in a criss-cross pattern, making three passes.
- Step 4
Replace the downpipe. Set the exhaust flange in position and tighten the bolts. Replace the gravel shield.
- Step 5
Reconnect the negative battery cable. Start the engine and check for exhaust leaks. Turn off the engine and lower the vehicle from the jack stands.
