- Wrench
- Remove the Old Fan
- Step 1
Disconnect the negative battery cable and isolate it with some non-conductive material, such as a clean glove or rag, to ensure that it will not accidentally slip into contact with the battery terminal.
- Step 2
Unclip your Mustang's fan wiring harness and unplug it from the fan motor connector.
- Step 3
Use your wrench to remove the four bolts holding the fan and shroud assembly mounting bracket. Remove the entire assembly from the car.
- Step 4
Remove the retaining clip from the end of the motor shaft and the fan blades.
- Step 5
Loosen the nuts attaching the fan motor to the mounting bracket. Remove the nuts and the fan motor.
Install the New Fan - Step 1
Install the new fan motor onto the mounting bracket, and then tighten the four nuts to hold it in place.
- Step 2
Attach the retaining clip to the end of the motor shaft and reinstall the fan blade.
- Step 3
Reinstall the mounting bracket, fan and motor assembly in your vehicle and tighten the four bolts to hold it in place.
- Step 4
Plug the fan wiring harness back into the fan motor connector, and clip the wiring harness back into place.
- Step 5
Reconnect the negative battery cable.
