How to use a Brake Fluid Tester

The regular testing of brake fluid is one of the jobs most garages miss out, it is essential to check the fluid as brake/clutch fluids attract moisture, if the fluid has too much moisture in it the fluid will become unsafe for use, and will become dangerous.

  • Safety Glasses
  • Paper
  • Brake Fluid Tester
  1. Step 1

The test works by sending an electrical current through the fluid, measuring the resistance, this then indicates the quality of the fluid on the LED readout scale. Check that the calibration is correct, if need be, reset the calibration as per the instructions.

  2. Step 2

Dip the test bar into the fluid tank 2cms, push the blue test button in order to view the fluid condition, the LED readout will display the fluid condition and moisture level from 0 - 5%. When the test is finished clean the test head, fold back into the tester and store safely.

  3. Step 3  Pneumatic Brake Bleeder Kit

Calibration instructions. Clean the two electrical poles at the end of the test bar, then dip the test head into new fluid 2cms, press the Blue test button, the first Green LED should light up, if not, reset by adjusting the cross slot screw until the LED indicator does light up.

If the fluid needs changing we recommend the use of 03-71205 Pneumatic Brake Bleeder Kit.
