Difficulty: EasyInstructionsThings You'll Need:
- old/dead battery
- preferably a car with a working battery so you can recycle the old one.
- a bit of muscle to lift the battery
- Step 1
First of all, when you take your car in to have the battery replaced, they will most likely take care of the old battery for you. Sometimes you may be charged a disposable fee.
- Step 2
Here is a nifty tip: Some places will give you a discount or money when you bring them your old battery and get a new one. The money/discount that they give you is a "core fee". This means that they are paying you to reuse the old goods. The more popular DIY auto shops will have this service.
- Step 3
Another service is the AAA Great Battery Round Up. AAA has started a program that sets up stations certain times of the year (usually Earth Day) to collect old batteries. They then recycle them. Call AAA to see when their next collection day is and where.
- Step 4
Some places to have battery recycling areas that are with normal recycling areas. Contact your local recycling program to see if they have other options available.
