How to Replace the Fuses in a Mazda6

Even though the Mazda6 is still relatively new, with a 2003 launch date, you could still experience a blown fuse. When this happens, the process for removing the bad fuse and installing a new one is relatively simple. You can replace it yourself quickly and for little to no cost.

  1. Step 1

    Begin by turning off your Mazda6. Look on the driver's side near the door and by the brake for the fuse box. Locate the second fuse box in the engine compartment near the battery.

  2. Step 2

    Slide the cover straight toward you to open the fuse box inside the car or open the cover for the one in the engine compartment. Look at the inside of the cover to find the location of the fuse you need. In a 2007 Mazda6, for example, the audio fuse is in the engine compartment in slot 34.

  3. Step 3

    Use the fuse puller under hood fuse block to remove the fuse you suspect is blown. Inspect the wire inside the fuse; if it's melted or broken, the fuse is bad.

  4. Step 4

    Search for a fuse of the same rating to replace the blown fuse. In this instance, a 2007 Mazda6 would use a 15-amp fuse for the audio system.

  5. Step 5

    Push the new fuse into place securely and close the fuse box. Once you restart the car, verify it works.
