How to Replace the Fuses in a Chevy Impala

The Impala by Chevy has been in production since 1958. While the older models look different from today's Impala, the process for replacing a blown fuse is exactly the same. You can change out a blown fuse yourself in just a short amount of time.

  • Replacement fuse of the same rating
  1. Step 1

    Locate the fuse box, which is on the driver's side of the instrument panel, inside the passenger compartment of your Impala.

  2. Step 2

    Open the fuse box and read the inside cover. This tells you where each fuse is located. In a 2003 Chevy Impala, the fuse for the turn signals is found clearly marked in the TURN SIGNAL slot.

  3. Step 3

    Pull out the suspected blown fuse and look at the band inside. If the wire is melted or broken, it's blown.

  4. Step 4

    Replace the blown fuse with one of the same size and rating. The turn signal fuse in the earlier example has a 15 amp rating. Click it into place and close the fuse box cover.

  5. Step 5

    Restart your Chevy Impala and verify the new fuse works.
