How to Replace the Fuses in a Chevy Avalanche

Shut your car off before touching any fuses. Locate the two fuse boxes in the Avalanche, one in the engine compartment behind the wiper fluid and the second on the driver's side at the edge of the instrument panel.

Open the fuse box and read the inside cover to find the fuse you need. If you have an owner's manual available, look up the needed fuse first to help you locate the fuse more easily. As an example, a 2007 Avalanche's dome light fuse is in the slot marked "CTSY."

Grasp the fuse between your thumb and index finger and remove the fuse from the slot. Verify the fuse is blown, represented by a broken or burned out wire.

Put a new fuse of the same rating in place of the blown one. Refer to the owner's manual to identify the amperage on the blown fuse. In Step 2's example, the dome light needs to be replaced with a 10-amp fuse.

Close the fuse box cover and restart your Chevy Avalanche. Verify the new fuse has resolved your electrical issue.
