03 hyundai santa fe brakes shake steering wheel

my question is: if I've already gotten my brakes machined down last July, will I need to do that again if my brakes are now vibrating badly when I slow to a stop? I read something about warped brake rotors, I thought the rotors were what were machined down, so I shouldn't have this problem, right? I'm not sure whether to call the people who did the machine down and ask them to do it again or what? thanks Yes your rotors need machining again.

It depends how "heavy" a foot you have as regards braking.

You might just consider replacing them. There are cheaper and more expensive rotors to buy. I'll let others more knowledgeable discuss the merits of the higher or low priced choices.

Bob It is likely that the rotors are near their minimum thickness and connot be machined again. Even if they were machined, they will be more prone to warping than they are now.

Get new rotors. A car's brakes turn foreward motion into heat. The rotors are the largest piece so they move the most heat. If they aren't thick enough they will warp under normal driving. We are talking thickness differences similar to 3 sheets of paper. A big cause of warping now is ceramic pads on cars that don't call for them. The ceramic pads resist heat transfer which forces more heat into the rotors then they warp.Car Repair Talk's forum.
