1996 mazda b4000 4x4 front brakes

We bought this truck in 2000 with 24k miles. Now it has 56k. The dealer quotes approx $600 for front brake job. Supposed to include calipers, pads, and rotors. Is it common not to turn the rotors? Why replace the calipers? I've had brakes replaced and rotors turned on older cars for a lot less $$$. The price no doubt includes new rotors and new calipers. Do you actually need these parts replaced?? What problems are you having?

In any event why are you going to the dealer? This is routine brake work that can be performed by any independent shop, always for much le$$. Go elsewhere. If there are no real brake problems ask for standard service. When I bought the truck I got the free oil change for as long as I own it. I took it in for the oil change. The brake fliud was low so I asked for them to top it off and check the brakes for wear. Now you see how such shops make profits on free lifetime oil changes!

Let them continue giving you free oil but have your maintenance and repair done elsewhere.Car Repair Talk's forum.
