driving with hand brake applied

Hi,
Someone I know drove their car (camry) for about 10 -15 miles without realizing they had the handbreak applied. Can someone tell me what kind of damage they did to their car?

Thanks. Oh, I forgot to mention, they said that the back two tires smelled really bad... (burning...)!!! If their brakes still work, they did no damage. They may have taken a few thousand miles off the life of the shoes, but shoes generally last 150k miles so it wont be noticable. If braking performance has degraded, check to see if the linings are glazed. If they are, you can get them turned for $30-50 for the pair. This is all assuming the car has drum brakes in the rear. Discs have an internal drum that works as a parking brake, and as long as the parking brake still works, it is also fine. If not, the repairs are the same as above.Car Repair Talk's forum.
