Using Brake Parts Cleaner on Lug Nuts / Studs

I have a question. Is it OK to use brake parts cleaner on lug studs and nuts to clean grime and rust off lug studs (assuming enought time is given for the parts to dry). The brake parts cleaner (Prestone) states that is leaves no residue. IS there an adverse affect using brake parts cleaner? What has everyone's experience been?

Thanks,
Cyrus You can use anything short of acid to clean your lug nuts and studs. Just put a little lube on their when you're done so the lugs come off more easily when you have a flat and need to change the tire. Thanks, I appreciate the information. The reason I think I got rust on this one wheel lugs is because I changed a flat not long ago in the rain and the studs / nuts may have got wet when changing the tire. The nuts are closed end (decorative) type of nuts, so I would think there would be prtection from moisture that way?

Thanks,
Cyrus Hi:
