Parking brake on 1984 Suzuki Samurai

I just bought a Suzuki Samurai and I've notice that the parking brake doesn't seem to do anything. (If I have it in neutral and the parking brake on it will still move if leaned against or on a hill) Does anybody know what I need to adjust or change to make the parking brake work?

thanks,
sam Hi Sam, It might be as simple as adjusting out the rear brake shoes until you can just slip the drum off the shoes. Or maybe the shoes are worn and need to be replaced. Then if applying the park brake there is still alot of travel then you will need to adjust the park brake cable tighter. Hope that helps. BillCar Repair Talk's forum.
