My 97 Honda Accord's emergency brake is stuck in the on position. There's been lots of rain and last night 19 degree temperatures. Could it be frozen? Is there a way to manually disengage the brake without taking it into a repair shop?
I appreciate any help! hi. is the handle stuck or the brake itself? The brake. It seems to have been frozen as once the day warmed up it worked fine. From what I've gathered today, this can be a common problem in older cars. Hopefully everything will be fine until he can get it home and to a repair shop (he's in another state for training and they had lots of rain followed by freezing temps - and us without funds to fix it right away).
Thanks for the post. hi. this may sound silly , but stop using the emerg. brake. "park" will be fine. if its a shift, use 4th gear. good luck. Car Repair Talk's forum.
