I have a 1996 Infiniti I30. The front brake pads need replacement. I've done this procedure many times on non-abs cars, but never on a car with abs. Is the procedure the same - remover or flip up caliper, remove worn pads, push piston back, reassemble? Thanks
Correct. It's just like a regular ol' brake change.
This is true for the most part however, as a precaution it is a good idea to open the bleeder on the calliper when pressing the piston back into it's bore. Since the callipers are the lowest point in the brake system, quite a bit of debris can gather there. By pressing the piston back in you are forcing fluid and debris through the ABS unit and master cylinder. Opening the bleeder will help to avoid a potential issue.Car Repair Talk's forum.
