1997 saturn cooling fan problem

I'd just like to know what the average cost and repair time is for replacing the cooling fan relay system would be on my 1997 saturn sc2 coupe.
It overheated when the car was idling one morning, and my mechanic tried yo solve the problem by replacing the thermostat and fluid. I told him that there was paperwork in the glovebox indicating this work had been performed just 10,000 miles prior. He then offered me credit for the repair (after i mentioned the Better Business Bureau of course), and proceeded to tell me that the trouble is with the sensor. He replaced the sensor and called it even. Not fair in my opinion.
The car still overheats. I think it's the fan relay, but I'm just a dumb old woman, what do I know ? I just need to be quiet and pay the man! It really sucks to be treated like i am incapable of understanding automobiles and their functions because of my gender. This is pure poppycock! I choose to have a man perform the work on my car, but I can assure you that I am completely capable if I choose to, believe you me!
SO, please tell me what I can expect to pay another mechanic to replace the fan relay on my 1997 saturn sc2 coupe.
Thank you.

vfleming,

I think it is sad when anyone assumes that someone doesn't know what is going on, regardless of gender. You should probably ask some friends for recommendations about other places to get your service done.

If you don't mind getting your hands a little dirty, I believe YOU can do some basic troubleshooting yourself. I am going to guess that you know how to open the hood and look around under there and tell what is what.

You should be able to find the underhood fuse
