I have a 91 Park Avenue that I bought in the early spring. The A/C worked fine when I first bought it, I turned it on just to test it out. the compressor cycled on and off, and it cooled fine. Recently, when the climate was warm enough for A/C, I turned it on and the compressor didn't come on. I've checked the fuse, found that the compressor clutch is easy to turn by hand, and can't see any loose wires going to the compressor.
I can take a nuclear power plant apart and reassemble it, but when it comes to HVAC or autos in general, I'm a real dummy. I wonder if there are any relays or links to the automatic fan on the radiator or anything that may be an easy fix for me. I hate to make an appointment at the Buick dealer for $95/hr for them to find a simple fix that someone may be able to lead me to here.
If anyone can help me with my A/C, I will fix your nuclear power plant for free........ that's a promise.............. Nuclar Dan Dan, the first thing that needs to be done is the system must be checked for the proper refrigerant charge with a set of A/C gauges. A low charge will keep the compressor clutch from engaging, this is done to protect the system from operating with an insufficient charge which could damage the compressor. If the system is under charged then a leak check will need to be performed in order to determine the size and location of the refrigerant leak. If the system is fully charged then an electrical circuit test will have to be done in order to determine the problem.
Hope this helps
By the way I have some spent nuclear fuel rods, can you take them off my hands? The NRC gets upset when I just toss them in the trash.
