I read up a lot on my project and also must reads in this forum. You guys are a must have for us DIY. My truck is the greatest. 160k strong. AC blows intermittent hot /cold. No telltale noises and the clutch works to best I can tell. I decided to replace the expansion valve, pressure switch, and dryer. I blew air through several lines into wet white cloth and no debris/dirt. I figure if the system works great if not then my truck deserves a new compressor anyway. My question, is flushing before evac. good procedure or a waste of money?
If it is good, what method of flushing is best?
Flushing is a very good idea. The main place you want to get is the condenser. You can't do much for the rest of the system. They sell a flushing solvent and a metal can that you can pressurize with air to blow it through.
