Hi all
Thanks for the help you've given me. I've been trying to find the source of a slow coolant leak in my 2000 Odyssey. I put fluorescent dye in the radiator and have been driving it for a week . Under ultraviolet light, I just discovered a faint glow along the entire inside top edge of the radiator, where the plastic and metal meet.
The question: Is it possible that's the leak? That the whole top edge is losing a little coolant? If so, must I replace the radiator, or is there an easier fix? Would it help to gently press on the metal tabs, or would that make more trouble than it's worth? Thanks again for your help. yes, it is very possible. i dont recommend raditor stop leak!!!! i know its tempting. that type of leak is common. send it 2 a rad. shop. they can repair and clean it much better than u can do at home. you can try 2 squeeze those tabs but i have never been able 2 get a satisfactory repair that way. Thanks Rick
Any idea what they might charge me to do that? I can get a new OEM radiator for about $200, and I could install it myself. Might that be a better way to go? Also, how exactly is it leaking? I guess I don't understand how these radiators are constructed. Thanks for the help.
MikeinMadison Hi:
200 bucks is a fair price for an OEM radiator. I just replaced a radiator on a '96 Cougar Car Repair Talk's forum.
