96 honda passport radiator hose

I need to change a radiator hose in a 96 honda passport. My question is, what is the best way to remove the anti freeze from the radiator without making a mess. Is there a drain or something I can open to remove it? look on the bottom tank of the radiator for a drain petcock that looks something like this:

yours may be black instead of white.

itll drain faster if u remove the radiator cap first. and if your removing the lower hose, youll still get some coolant spilled when u take the hose off. just not nearly as much as if u didnt drain it.

Thank you, I hope it all goes well for me. your welcome. let us know how it turns out, or if u got other questions. can you tell me on what side it is on, I'm a women and this is my first attempt to fix it myself without having to call on the guys to come over and help cj9113 wrote:I'm a women and this is my first attempt to fix it myself without having to call on the guys to come over and help

i know what u mean. i hate it when that happens too.

i dont remember off the top of my head which side it would be on but it would be on the side of the bottom tank that faces the engine. or possibly the bottom side of the tank, facing down toward the ground. youll just have to get under there and look for it. a flashlight might help.

there are some radiators that dont come with a drain. if u search real good and cant find the petcock, the only thing u can do is pull the hose off and move out of the way real quick.

Thank you very much for your help. I didn't find the plug, so did what I had to do, loosen the hose and move fast like you said If you were going to replace the lower hose, you could of also slit it with a razor to drain the coolant. I figured I would tell you that now since you already took the hose off and let the coolant gush out...

good ol' discrete -- allways right on top of things

cj, glad it worked out. and thanks for letting us know.
